Information Technology Communities
IT communities like Open Port are helping to improve the skills of IT professionals of every skill level.
Most IT communities struggle with time and fuding. There are a large number of seasoned IT professionals that are gracious enough to volunteer their time to support the IT community. Most do this through the sharing of knowledge in articles they write. Others participate in forums that answer questions from other IT professionals.
For funding, there are a large number of companies that have a vested interest in developing and harvesting the knowledge of future IT professionals. IT communities should look to non-profit organizations or should form their own non-profit organizations to leverage the financial resources of companies that want to contribute to a thriving IT community.
